Welcome to my web site. I write about modern web development techniques with a focus on (x)HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. I'm also very interested in Internationalisation, Localisation and web site performance.

Who am I?

I work at Yahoo! Europe where I lead the Frontend Standards and Strategy Team (FSSG). I previously led the Marketplace web development team working on Yahoo!'s Shopping, Travel and Cars properties. Prior to that I worked as a web developer in the Network Services team where I developed and launched the latest version of the Yahoo! home pages and associated content tools for Europe.

Before joining Yahoo! in 2005 I worked as a web developer in a number of ISPs, web development agencies and a financial service company. In total I have nearly 9 years of commercial experience developing web sites.

Away from work I'm a keen runner. In the distant past I raced a lot over cross country, road and track competing at county and national level. I won a fair number of races and narrowly missed out on running internationally at junior level.

Colophon

The code behind this site was thrown together very quickly back in 2005 and hasn't been updated much since. It uses PHP and MySql. I won't talk about how I administer the site - it's embarrassing. Needless to say it's badly in need of a rewrite which I hope I'll find time for sometime soon. I'm considering using Django next time round.
